Who We Are
Highway to Healing is a group of volunteers who help Lee County cancer patients by driving them to and from cancer treatment appointments.
What We Do
We provide free transportation to Lee County residents who are cancer patients to see their doctor and/or receive treatment. There is no cost to the patient for this service--Lee County people helping Lee County people. Most appointments are in Sanford, Pinehurst, or Chapel Hill though we do provide access to other areas in central NC including the Durham VA, Duke, WakeMed, and Fayetteville. Volunteers generally are asked to make one trip per month but may drive as often as their schedule and the need for patients allow. Volunteers pick their destinations and are compensated for gas through cooperation with local gas stations.
